Restart…

Sometimes you just need a restart. Like, when your macbook is just getting a little sluggish toggling between apps and that beach ball spinny thing is coming up a little too much…you know, it’s restart time. Well, that’s what I’ve been needing photographically-speaking. (if I may use the word that way) I think with the moving to CA and then the moving back to Dallas…with working there and finding a job here, I’ve not had the time to really pour into my passion that is photography. I’m still very much at the beginning of all this and my confidence has been low. But, luckily, I was fortunate enough to hear from Rebekah that Denis Reggie would be in town speaking Thur night with the local Pictage group. It was just what I needed!
I got to meet with some other local photographers and talk shop. Denis spoke for about 2 hours sharing a ton of great tips while showing some of his beautiful work. One of my favorite things he said was how, as a photojournalist photography, he is “the anticipator of moments”. That’s exactly what I want to be but how do I do that in the family or infant portrait setting, not just in a wedding setting. It really helped me get inspired and motivated again about the style of photography I love – portrait photojournalism. So I’m brainstorming like crazy and will be adding some new info to my site soon so stay posted. In the meantime, I have a shoots set up and I’m excited to get out there and really get this going. Thank you to those that have continually encouraged me in this venture!! I really appreciate it!
The Carlsen Family
Jon and I went to MacWorld last week and stayed with the Carlsen family. Dave is one of Jon’s good friends and was a groomsman in our wedding. There was some beautiful parks nearby so we decided to make a little photo shoot out of the afternoon. Enjoy.

and my fave:

The Henley Family
A few weeks ago, I got to take some family photos of the Henley family. It was my first referral client!
Kallie was in the Lewis’ home group and saw Luke’s pictures and decided to contact me. I’m glad she did. I enjoyed getting to know her family and being able to take photos for their mom’s Christmas present. I hope she enjoys them.
The Hipp Family
I took some photos of my boss and his sweet wife and daughter right before Halloween. They find out tomorrow morning if they’ll be having another girl or a baby boy. Until next Spring, it’s just Daddy, Mommy, and sweet little Jordan. Enjoy.
The Fernberg Family
Here’s some shots of a sweet couple that I have had the pleasure of knowing and seeing fall in love, get married, and have their first child, Ben. Thanks Fernbergs for letting me in on your day at the park.
Jett
One of my good friends, Casey and her husband Ben, just had their first baby 3 weeks ago. After over 50 hours of labor (bless your heart Casey!), they welcomed Jett Thomas Williams into the world. They were kind enough to let me take a few snapshots of their new bundle of joy.
and my fave:
Amber’s Bridals
Now that my dear friend Amber is Mrs.Elliot, I can post her bridal pictures.
She is such a beautiful bride!!!!
Busy, busy summer
I have to keep telling myself that this photography business will be growing organically and that I do not need to force it. In other words, I haven’t had the chance to do another shoot yet but have a few scheduled for July. I did get some beautiful shots of my mom when she was in last weekend. I hope to get some more during the Holiday weekend.
Isn’t she beautiful?!?!?
Luke: the sequel :)
A few more shots of little Luke.
This one’s probably my favorite. There’s just something so sweet about his curiosity and his dad’s hands on his head. He was all about everything around him except the camera. Sweet Luke!
